South Haven, Michigan, is a beautiful destination to explore in the fall, with vibrant foliage, crisp air, and plenty of seasonal activities. Here are some fun fall activities to enjoy in South Haven.

Fall is the perfect time to visit local farms for pumpkin picking or get lost in a corn maze. Overhiser Orchards offers u-pick apples, pumpkins, and sunflowers.  They also have corn mazes, hayrides, animals, and other fun family activities.  Crane Orchards also offers a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and apple picking!  A third option is Bumblebee Acres, which has a corn maze, u-pick fruit, and other farm activities.

South Haven's Farm Market is open on Saturdays at the Huron Street Pavillion through October 12th.  Explore a variety of agricultural products grown in Michigan as well as unique artifacts.  Barden's Farm Market offers a greenhouse, fresh food, and bakery and is open through October 31st.

Fall is apple season in Michigan, which in fact is the nation's second largest producer of apples.  South Haven is home to several orchards where you can pick your own apples. Overhiser Orchards and Crane Orchards are popular spots where you can enjoy a day of apple picking, cider, and donuts. Many orchards also offer fresh apple cider, pies, and other treats to enjoy. Fall is grape harvest season, making it a great time to visit South Haven’s wineries. Head to Cogdal Vineyards or Warner Vineyards (Paw Paw) to enjoy a glass of locally produced wine while taking in the fall views. While summer is peak boating season, you can still enjoy a relaxing boat tour on Lake Michigan in the fall. Many tour operators offer scenic boat rides during autumn, where you can see the fall colors from the water. Try an on-water experience with the Michigan Maritime Museum.  A sunset cruise is especially beautiful with the vibrant fall sky and colorful leaves on the shore. 

Fall wouldn’t be complete without enjoying Michigan’s famous apple cider and donuts. Visit a local farm or attend a fall festival where you can warm up with fresh cider and hot donuts. Fall is a great time for hiking as the weather cools down and the crowds thin out. Van Buren State Park and nearby Saugatuck Dunes State Park offer scenic trails that wind through sand dunes and forests, with views of Lake Michigan. The cooler weather makes these hikes more enjoyable, and you’ll get to experience the beauty of the fall season.

On cooler fall days, take some time to explore the Michigan Maritime Museum, which highlights the rich history of South Haven as a harbor town. The museum offers exhibits on shipbuilding, Great Lakes navigation, and maritime history. During fall, you may also be able to take a ride on one of their historic vessels.

Watch a movie at the historic charming Michigan Theater downtown South Haven. Some scary new releases will get you in the mood for the Halloween season.
